A Good Headshot Can Still Fail in a Bad Website Layout

A strong portrait doesn’t automatically make a strong website. We regularly see companies with genuinely good headshots that still read as inconsistent once they’re placed on the page, because the photo wasn’t planned around where it would actually be used. A few of the most common problems:

  • A tight portrait leaves no room for page copy or a headline to sit beside it.
  • Inconsistent crops across the team make a staff directory look disorganized, even when each individual photo is fine.
  • Different lighting and backgrounds from photo to photo weaken brand cohesion on an About or Leadership page.
  • A horizontal homepage hero needs a different composition than a square LinkedIn thumbnail — one image rarely does both well.
  • Mobile layouts often crop a face differently than desktop, so a portrait that looks fine on a laptop can cut off awkwardly on a phone.
  • Older headshots make a leadership or staff page look neglected, even if the rest of the site is current.
  • Random image dimensions create extra cropping and retouching work for whoever builds or maintains the site.

None of this is a reason to avoid updating your team’s photos — it’s the reason we plan composition and delivery around the actual page before the camera comes out.

Website Placements We Plan For

Composition and delivery should match where a portrait is actually going to live. We plan sessions around placements including:

  • Homepage introduction
  • About page
  • Leadership biography
  • Meet the Team directory
  • Attorney or physician profile
  • Founder story
  • Consultant or advisor page
  • Speaker biography
  • Contact and booking page
  • Press and media page
  • Recruiting and careers page

Built for Your Brand, Your CMS and Every Screen Size

Website headshots aren’t a separate genre of photography — they’re the same coached, professional portrait we create for LinkedIn, print or a press feature, planned with a few extra technical considerations so they hold up wherever your site puts them:

  • Expression matched to your professional role — approachable for a consultant, composed for an attorney, warm for a healthcare provider.
  • Brand-aligned lighting and background, consistent across everyone on a team.
  • Consistent head size and eye line, so a directory page reads as one cohesive set rather than a collection of unrelated photos.
  • Horizontal, vertical and square crops planned from the same session.
  • Negative space for headlines when a portrait is meant for a hero banner or feature panel.
  • High-resolution master files plus web-optimized exports.
  • sRGB color profile and retina-ready dimensions for sharp display on modern screens.
  • Consistent filename conventions so your files stay organized.
  • Transparent-background or background-matching options, when genuinely part of your session.
  • Desktop and mobile crop planning from the start, not an afterthought.

The 2MM Method™

A website visitor decides how credible your company feels within seconds of landing on your About or Team page. A stiff, camera-aware expression creates distance. An overly serious expression can read as unapproachable. A generic forced smile can feel disconnected from an executive, legal, medical or financial role.

The 2MM Method™ coaches the subtle shifts in eyes, jaw, posture and expression that produce a portrait matching the impression a person actually needs to make — reviewed together on a tethered monitor during the session, not guessed at afterward. It’s the same coaching we use across every headshot session, applied here with your website’s layouts in mind.

Individual and Team Website Projects

Individual Website Headshots

For a single leadership portrait, bio photo or founder image:

  • Business owners
  • Consultants
  • Executives
  • Attorneys
  • Physicians
  • Realtors
  • Speakers
  • Entrepreneurs

Team Website Headshots

For a consistent, company-wide image system:

  • Leadership teams
  • Law firms
  • Medical practices
  • Financial firms
  • Corporate departments
  • Growing companies
  • Remote or multi-location teams

Small groups are typically photographed in our North Richland Hills studio; larger teams can use the Mobile Elite Studio on location at your office, so the whole company is photographed with matching lighting and background in a single visit.

Website Headshot Examples

A sample of coached portraits from real 2MM sessions, shown at the crops and settings a website actually uses.

From Brand Brief to Website-Ready Files

  1. Review the website and brand requirements.
  2. Define background, wardrobe and expression together.
  3. Plan crops and confirm which pages each portrait needs to support.
  4. Photograph with real-time coaching and tethered review.
  5. Select and retouch the final images.
  6. Deliver organized, website-ready files.

Technical specifications — exact dimensions, crop ratios, file naming — can come from whoever manages that side of your project: you, your marketing team, your web designer, a branding agency or your developer. We build the shoot around whatever guidance you provide. (2MM photographs and delivers your files; we don’t build or manage the website itself.)

File Delivery by Placement

Common Questions Before Booking

“We already have employee headshots.”
If they’re inconsistent, outdated or were taken by different photographers over time, we can create a unified set — or photograph just the gaps, matched to your existing style.

“Some of our staff work remotely.”
We can photograph remote team members on-location near them or coordinate a session when they’re in DFW — reach out and we’ll plan around your team’s actual locations.

“Our company is growing and new employees will need matching portraits.”
We keep a record of your team’s background, lighting and crop so new hires can be added later without looking out of place.

“Our website uses circular crops.”
We plan for that during the session so faces stay centered and nothing important gets cropped out.

“We need multiple backgrounds.”
That’s easy to plan for in-studio or on-location — tell us which pages need which look.

“Some team members hate being photographed.”
This is exactly what the 2MM Method is built for — real-time coaching that puts camera-shy team members at ease.

“Our designer has exact specifications.”
Send them our way before the session. We’ll shoot to match.

“We only need one individual photographed.”
Individual sessions are welcome — you don’t need a full team to book.

Frequently Asked Questions

What makes a headshot suitable for a company website?

A website-ready headshot is coached and framed with the final placement in mind — consistent head size and eye line across a team directory, enough negative space for a homepage hero or bio headline, and a crop that still works when it’s resized down for a mobile card.

Can you match our existing team-headshot style?

Yes. We review your current headshots for background tone, lighting direction and crop before your session so new additions sit naturally alongside the existing team.

Can you provide square, circular, vertical and horizontal crops?

Yes. Each portrait is delivered as a high-resolution master plus the crop variations your site actually needs, planned during booking rather than guessed after the fact.

Can you leave negative space for website text?

Yes, when we know it’s needed. Tell us where the portrait is going — hero banner, sidebar bio, founder panel — and we frame the shot with the right side clear for your headline or CTA.

Can you photograph our entire team at our office?

Yes. The Mobile Elite Studio brings professional lighting and a consistent backdrop to your office, so the whole team is photographed in one visit with matching results.

How do you maintain consistency when employees are added later?

We keep a record of the background, lighting setup and crop used for your team so new hires can be added later without the new portrait looking out of place next to the originals.

Can you work directly with our web designer or marketing agency?

Yes. We’re glad to take crop and dimension guidance directly from your designer, developer or marketing team before the session.

How quickly are website headshots delivered?

Individual sessions typically include same-day delivery. Larger team projects usually take longer, depending on group size and the amount of retouching requested — we’ll confirm a specific timeline when you book.

Can you photograph remote or multi-location employees?

We can photograph remote or multi-location team members on-location near them, or coordinate a session when they’re next in the DFW area. Reach out and we’ll talk through the best option for your team.

What should employees wear for company website headshots?

Solid colors photograph best — navy, charcoal, deep blue, burgundy or forest green. We send a full wardrobe guide when you book, and can advise on company-wide consistency for team projects.

Are these images also suitable for LinkedIn and press use?

Yes. The same session can be delivered in the crops and formats you need for LinkedIn, press kits and internal use, in addition to your website files.

Do you use AI-generated faces or synthetic headshots?

No. Every portrait is a real photograph of a real person, coached in person or on-location and finished with professional retouching — not a synthetic or AI-generated image.

Give Your Website a Team People Can Trust

Whether you need one leadership portrait or a consistent company-wide image system, we’ll plan the expression, background, crop and delivery around the pages where your clients encounter your team.
